MIGUEL HERNANDEZ; A GREAT POET.

Miguel Hernández Gilabert (Orihuela, October 30, 1910 - Delhi, March 28, 1942) was a poet and playwright of particular relevance in the twentieth century Spanish literature. Although traditionally it has been framed in the generation of 36, Miguel Hernandez had a greater closeness to the previous generation to the point of being considered by Damaso Alonso as "great follower of the Generation of '27."

"Remembering Miguel Hernández who disappeared in the darkness and remember in broad daylight, it is the duty of Spain, a duty of love. Few poets so generous and bright as the big boy of Orihuela whose statue will rise one day among the blossoms of his sleeping earth. Miguel did not have the overhead light in the South and the poets of Andalusia straight but a light soil, rocky morning, waking thick light honeycomb. With this hard material such as gold, live like blood, drew his poetry durable. And this was the man who at the time of Spain banished the shade! We turn now and forever out of his prison mortal, enlightened by their courage and martyrdom, teach it as an example of pure heart! Give Light! Give it a shock of remembrance, a shovel of clarity that disclosure, an archangel of earthly glory that fell on the night armed with the sword of light!"
By Pablo Neruda
